Insidon®

definition

The drug Insidon® is a drug from the group of psychotropic drugs.
Insidon® is a product name, the active ingredient it contains is opipramol.
Insidon® is prescribed especially for anxiety disorders and somatoform disorders (These include diseases for which no cause for certain physical symptoms can be found and where psychosocial factors play an important role).

How Insidon® works

The exact mode of action of Opipramol is currently unclear, but one can speak of a mood-enhancing, anxiety-relieving (anxiolytic) Speak active ingredient.
Insidon® interferes with numerous control loops in the central nervous system. These include the Serotonin-, the noradrenaline, the dopamine, the Acetylcholine- and the histamine system.

Directions for use

Insidon® is included as a tablet 50mg Opipramol before.

The dose of Insidon® is adjusted depending on the disorder. In total, a maximum dose of 300mg per day not be exceeded.

If the excretory function of the kidneys is restricted, the dose may have to be reduced in order to prevent an accumulation of the drug with an excessively high active level.

Insidon® works at the beginning of the intake mainly reassuring. After two weeks of regular use, it has a mood-enhancing effect.
It is therefore important to take the drug regularly, as its effect can only be assessed after a few weeks.

In contrast to some other centrally acting, calming medications, the use of Insidon® does not lead to dependency, but abruptly discontinuing a long-term use of Insidon® can have the opposite effect with increased arousal of the patient. The dose of Insidon® should therefore be slowly reduced and the drug tapered off.

When taking other calming, mood-enhancing or anxiety-relieving drugs at the same time, the practitioner must weigh up whether simultaneous medication with Insidon® is justifiable and sensible. The effectiveness of other centrally acting drugs can be strengthened or weakened, which is associated with the risk of a life-threatening clouding of consciousness.
